So often we forget who is in charge.
So often we think that we are the masters of our own destiny.
So often we think that we earned what we have.
So often we forget that we were created by a creator.
So often we forget that we are not God.
I’ve written about this subject so many times but I need reminded time and time again. I need reminded that I am not in charge and that all I get to experience is not a reward for good behaviour but a gift from my Father in heaven. I was reminded of this once again as I was reading through Leviticus. I came across the start of a verse where God is instructing His people about how they should behave when they read the Promised Land. I underlined the part that jumped out to me.
When you enter the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your possession….. Leviticus 13:34a
The Promised Land wasn’t their reward, it wasn’t their right, and it wasn’t earned by their work. It was a gift that God gave them, a gift that was to be their possession. God’s generosity here is incredible. He gave His people what He owned so that they could own it.
The same goes for us today. All that we have is from God and for God. Our only response as His creation is to treasure it and offer it back to Him as worship.
God is the one in charge.
He is the master of our destiny.
He earned what we have.
He is the creator.
He is God and we are not.
