Generosity meals

This is a short post reminding myself of the power of generosity.

We were in Liverpool celebrating my sons birthday and went to dinner in one of his favourite restaurants. We talked with the waitress when we were ordering and told her why we were there. Nothing special, just general chit chat.

At the end of the meal, which was awsome by the way, we asked for the bill and were waiting for it to arrive – we actually thought they’d forgotten to bring it. Then the waitress who had originally served us came over and said

“because 10 is such a special age, this meal is on me!”

The waitress covered our meal – so generous!

It made such an impact on me and really blessed my day. It got me thinking about the power of generosity again. If that had a radical impact on me as someone who follows Jesus, what would it do in the heart of someone who doesnt?

One of the first things I thought about when the waitress told me about her covering the meal was… why? Sure, it was my sons birthday but it can’t be the first birthday she’s waited on. Does she do that for every birthday? Maybe just kids birthdays? Is it because we’re so awesome – joke!

You get my thinking though and when as a follower of Jesus we are generous we have an opportunity to reflect the heart of the Father and bless others in a way that will cause them to ask questions. Maybe those questions will lead people towards Jesus.

So….. Lets keep being generous!
