If only…

In the book of Job there is a section in Chapter 9 where Job first speaks out about his suffering to his friends. At the end of the chapter there is a section where he says this about God.

He is not a mere mortal like me that I might answer him, that we might confront each other in court. If only there were someone to mediate between us, someone to bring us together, someone to remove God’s rod from me, so that his terror would frighten me no more. Then I would speak up without fear of him, but as it now stands with me, I cannot. Job 9:32-35

I love that here in what scholars believe is the oldest book in the scriptures we see the foretelling of Jesus. Jesus is the mediator that came to reconcile us to the Father, to bring us together, someone who removed the penalty of sin from our lives.

Thank you Jesus that you reveal yourself everywhere!
