Beauty or function?

The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food…… Genesis 2:9a

There have always been debates between function and aesthetics, inner workings and outer shells, science and art. Too often we have argued that they are enemies pulling against each other to achieve superiority. At best we see them as opposing thoughts that we have to hold in tension.

When I read the verse above I loved how in creation God thought of both. God created trees that were useful and beautiful. They provided food for their bellys but were a feast for their eyes.

A short one today but I hope it helps us appreciate the depth in His creation.
