“I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:7
We are limited. We have limited time, energy, finance and capacity. Yes, we can stretch those limits, develop our gifts, and often we are capable of much more than we think, but at the end of it all – we are limited.
Because limits are all that we have known, it is difficult for us to think in any other way. Most of the time, especially it we aren’t a follower of Jesus, this is regarded as a good thing. It’s wisdom to live within your limits and to understand your boundaries. However as someone who follows Jesus that isn’t necessarily wisdom.
As I’ve written about many times before, God is unlimited.
He is not bound by time, energy levels, finance and capacity. He is past present and future, He owns and created all that we can see.
So often in our interactions and prayers with God we start from our limited position rather than His limitless position.
The situations that seem huge in our lives are not too big for him but we often believe they are. Therefore we settle for small prayers and faithless solutions. God has so much more for us!
Its why love that verse from Jeremiah that reminds us again that nothing is too big for God and those of us who are following Jesus must learn to live from His perspective.
