I remember a while ago reading an article about how bogus companies/ dodgy individuals steal money off someone’s credit card. I’m sure this process is outdated now but its a helpful analogy and I’m sticking to it!
Most people aren’t avid watchers of their credit card statements. We tend, depending on our personalities, to only view our statements periodically. We also don’t tend, depending on our personalities, to painstakingly go through every line to check whether or not we made all the purchases or not.
So, when credit card thieves are trying to steal from us they often make a number of smaller withdrawals as they are less likely to be noticed. They don’t try and take huge amounts because even those who are not very observant would notice. This way before the owner notices the thief will have amassed a decent amount.
Potentially outdated analogy over
I often feel the enemy uses the same approach when it comes to our spiritual lives. He doesn’t usually try and trick us through making huge mistakes all at once. Instead, he tempts us in a number of small ways over a period of time. We don’t notice we’ve moved these small degrees off our course until we look around and realise how for we have deviated.
Its daylight robbery!
Its happened to me on a number of different occasions and if you’re anything like me you’ll have experienced the same.
The best way that we can prevent this from happening is by taking frequent views at our spiritual account and looking where withdrawals can occur. When we begin to see small signs of deviations from God’s plan for our lives me can take preventative action.
Of course I’m not advocating that our lives with Jesus are played on the defensive. The truth is that living our lives fully out loud for Jesus is the best way tomore into freedom but I hope this part will also help us at staving off attacks!
