God can use anyone

I’ve always wrestled with the idea that God uses people that I wouldn’t. Often I see people do the most incredible thing through the power of the Holy Spirit but they themselves are someone who isn’t fully living for God when it comes to their personal choices and conduct. Wrongly, it brings up a self righteousness in me. I can start to get a little frustrated that even though they don’t seem to be choosing for God, He still uses them to do incredible things.

The other day I came across this passage where God is talking about how He will use Israel, even though they don’t follow Him well.

For the sake of Jacob my servant, of Israel my chosen, I summon you by name and bestow on you a title of honor, though you do not acknowledge me. I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God.
I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other
. Isaiah 45:4-6 (NIV)

This I simply can’t wrap my head around but then again I’m not meant to. God’s mercy and grace is not logical. The truth is none of us ‘deserve’ to be used by God. We all have our stuff and none of us make perfect choices everyday. The thing is though, the perfect one died for us so we could all be counted worthy by God. He uses us all, whether or not we think we deserve it or not.

Of course, we can’t take this for granted and just throw it all to the wind thinking that God can use us regardless. No, we still must live a life of consecration and I fully believe that this will bring increase in how God uses it but it isn’t a simple equation where if we do this, He will do that. No. God will continue to use whoever He decides to use but we must decide to give every part of our lives to Him.

I guess what I am trying to say is that whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you have done, don’t think that He can’t use you.

God can use anyone.
