All Things New

I was doing some writing today in preparation for a staff strategy day that we are having on Monday and I was reminded again of the All Things New reality that the book of Revelation talks about. Reading this passage again was incredible.

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:1-5 (NIV)

The Kingdom of God is advancing, the Kingdom of Heaven is closer today than it has been. We are moving towards a glorious end of this world and a glorious beginning to the next. We cannot taste this ‘All Things New’ future in it’s fullness until Jesus returns but it is up to us how much of a gap we are happy to live with. Partnering with the Holy Spirit we have the opportunity to see as much as we can.

I am stirred once again to see this reality come to pass. I don’t want to waste time, I don’t want to waste opportunities, I want to see all things being made new.
