This song by Cody Carnes is a song that captures my heart at the moment. Here are the lyrics;
I’m caught up in Your presence
I just want to sit here at Your feet
I’m caught up in this holy moment
I never wanna leave
Oh, I’m not here for blessings
Jesus, You don’t owe me anything
More than anything that You can do
I just want You
I’m sorry when I’ve just gone through the motions
I’m sorry when I just sang another song
Take me back to where we started
I open up my heart to You
I’m sorry when I’ve come with my agenda
I’m sorry when I forgot that You’re enough
Take me back to where we started
I open up my heart to You
I just love how it captures how our hearts desire needs to be for Jesus alone. Not what He has done, what He is doing, or what He will do for us but simply for who He is. the song reminds me of the times I bring an agenda to Him expecting Him to work to my schedule and being frustrated when I don’t get an answer or perhaps just not the answer I wanted.
The only part of the lyric I change for me personally is when Cody sings “take me back to where we started” I totally understand this thought but I do know for me the last thing I want is to be back there but that’s more to do with how my adventure with Jesus started than anything else. If anything I want Him to take me forward to where I have an increased sense of His presence and experience His glory.
We just need Jesus….and nothing else
